Winter Programs
Fireside Fridays
Fridays - January 16 to February 6 - a 4 week series - $240
Join us in the forest this winter! We’ll build our firemaking skills as we use fire for cooking, warmth and crafting. Each day we’ll share stories around the hearth and learn about myths and legends from different cultures around the world. Winter is a beautiful time to be in the forest, perfect for tracking, studying animal behavior, playing awareness games, learning about tree identification, the qualities of different types of wood, quiet observation and raucous romps through the snow. We’ll delve into fun crafts that require fire, such as making charcoal pencils, beeswax crayons, and candles. We’ll also prepare delicious treats over this fire with food from the land like black walnuts and hazelnuts and explore different cooking techniques like dutch over cooking, stick roasting and using a small rocket stove. So layer up your homeschooler and send them into the woods with us this winter! They’ll be returned to you elated, more confident and thoroughly tuckered out.
